For those of you in the Bay Area, the September meeting of the Nonsite Collective will take place on the last Sunday of the month, 9/27. We hope to spend just a short bit of time addressing the collective's current plans, upcoming events, and working groups. Beyond that, we'll begin using our monthly meetings for discussions / workshops around particular inquiries, projects, or texts. This Sunday, Miranda Mellis will facilitate a discussion around Pierre Bourdieu's "Rites of Institution," pursuing some questions concerning self-organized pedagogy and related issues. Bourdieu's text, from /Language and Symbolic Power, is attached here as a PDF.
